What is the Geologic Time scale? well, the geologic time scale was a scale made for scientists. It shows Geologic events and Life forms in Earths History. Its split into Eras and Periods. The Geologic Time Scale is very important.
How did scientists create the Geologic Time Scale? They created it by studying rock layers and fossils, which helped place rocks in order of relative age, which is how old the rock is. Radioactive Dating was used to find the exact age of the rock layers.
To determine when an era ends, when a scientist sees major changes in life forms, Some examples are the explosion of life, mass extinction, and when a type of animal starts to dominate.
Fact: How old do you think the Earth is? 4.6 Billion years old!
